On July 25, the Brazilian Ministry of Economy announced the initiation of a third sunset review anti-dumping investigation on passenger car tires imported from China.
The products under investigation are 13-inch and 14-inch tires from the 65 and 70 series manufactured in China, specifically radial tires with sizes 165, 175, and 185 for passenger cars.
The relevant NCM tariff code is 4011.10.00.
The investigation period for dumping is from January to December 2023, while the investigation period for injury is from January 2019 to December 2023.
According to reports, the applicant in the case claims that the Chinese tire industry operates as a non-market economy sector. The investigation uses an export price of $2.47 per kilogram for Chinese exports to Brazil during the investigation period. Allegations of dumping indicate a price difference of $7.74 per kilogram, representing a margin of 313%.
The sunset review investigation will use a sampling method, and a list of sampled companies will be published in the future.
Earlier in July, Brazil also announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on steel cord used for tires originating from China.
