Recently, the U.S. Department of Commerce made a final affirmative determination regarding bus tires originating from Thailand.
Bridgestone and PRINX Chengshan Tire, both with factories in Thailand, have been assigned new anti-dumping duty rates.
Bridgestone Thailand's anti-dumping duty rate is set at 48.39%;
PRINX Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has an anti-dumping duty rate of 12.33%.
The average duty rate for all other tire manufacturers and exporters is also 12.33%.
Tireworld.net has noted that this is significantly different from the preliminary duty rates announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce in May. At that time, the anti-dumping duty rate for Bridgestone tires was only 2.35%, and PRINX Chengshan Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was initially determined to have a 0% dumping margin.
According to reports, in November 2023, the U.S. Department of Commerce released an announcement regarding the initiation of this investigation. Bridgestone and PRINX Chengshan Tire were selected as mandatory respondents in the case.
PRINX Chengshan Tire's 2023 annual report indicates that the company derives a large portion of its revenue from overseas markets. The final anti-dumping duty ruling is expected to have a certain impact on its trade with the U.S. market.
